Voices of GIST: Kathrin Wehber, a former principal

I came to the GIST as Principal in 2017 from Hamburg, Germany. At the GIST, I felt a good energy and a willingness to grow. For me personally, the decision to manage a school abroad was a great challenge and I am very grateful that I was given this opportunity in 2017. I got to know a very friendly and inspired school community and have learnt to think very strategically and entrepreneurially in terms of my work as a school principal.

The first time I noticed that I was grown up was during the process of doing tasks that did not feel easy, such as a tax return. Being grown up gives you on the other hand the freedom to make important and personal decisions. For the longest time, I wanted to run a café with cakes, tea, and coffee. Maybe one day that will happen. In order for one to be grown up, one needs courage, confidence in oneself and people who love and value you unconditionally.
