For the 2025/2026 school year, we are seeking a full-time International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program Coordinator with secondary school teaching qualification, specializing in English Language & Literature, and possessing an excellent understanding of the Ontario school system
You will join the German International School Toronto as IB Diploma Program Coordinator, taking on responsibilities that include coordinating the teaching team, facilitating in-service training, and overseeing curriculum development.
You will take on the position of Head of English and teach English within our secondary school (Grades 5-12). You will play a key role in developing, strengthening, and enhancing the English department of our secondary school.
You will work closely with the Principal and Business Manager on day-to-day operations. You will be a member of all school leadership and development groups such as the Extended School Leadership.
You will regularly attend IB Diploma training sessions and integrate the outcomes into our school development initiatives. You will be in close and regular contact with the international network of IB schools.
You will regularly participate in the Regional Training of the German Schools in the North American region and implement the results in our school development.
You will serve as the primary contact person for our families regarding IB, English, and the Ontario school system. Additionally, you will hold regular information sessions to keep our families informed.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Education, specializing in Secondary School and English Language & Literature.
Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) Certificate required.
You have experience in IB management, school management and within personnel management.
You have experience in the Ontario school system and know the demands of the Ontarian curriculum, as well as the procedures of the annual competence, tests EQAO, and others.
You have experience with High School Coordination OSSD procedures and ONSIS maintenance.
You work in a team-oriented manner, but you are equally capable of driving processes forward independently and representing the GIST in a professional manner.
We expect a high level of subject expertise, a modern and diverse pedagogical skill set, and experience in differentiation and individualized teaching.
You bring enthusiasm to our team and demonstrate exceptional motivation, flexibility, and dedication.
Excellent oral, written, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills. Your communication is transparent and characterized by mutual respect.
You hold a valid work visa for Canada.

We offer unpaid internships in our elementary and secondary grades as well as in kindergarten. Internships ideally last five months, including holidays and school breaks. We kindly ask you to refrain from applying for internships lasting shorter than three months.

Kindergarten: We no longer have any available spots for the 2025/2026 school year.
Elementary School: All spots for the first term of the 2025/2026 school year are filled. For the second term, we are currently reviewing applications received by March 31, 2025, and will be in touch with candidates soon.
Secondary School: All spots for the first term of the 2025/2026 school year are filled. For the second term, we are currently reviewing applications received by March 31, 2025, and will be in touch with candidates soon.
Administration: We are currently reviewing applications for the administrative internships received by March 31, 2025.
School Year and Breaks
Our school year runs from September to June. The first term begins on the first weekday of September (the day after Labour Day) and lasts until the end of January. The second term runs from February to the last weekday of June. We have one week of fall break, two weeks of Christmas break, and two weeks of March break. We do not offer any internships during our summer break.Office Internships
We offer unpaid office internships in the departments of office administration, finances, and marketing. These internships have a minimum length of six months.Expectations
Interns are expected to be present during school hours (Mon-Fri, 7:45 am - 1:15 pm) with a minimum of 20 school periods per week. Interns will gain hands-on experience in a small school with small class sizes and a close-knit welcoming community. This setting allows for meaningful interactions and close bonds with students and staff.
