Voices of GIST: Sina Brandt, a former intern
I was an intern at GIST in 2021, but before that I struggled with myself for a long time about whether I really wanted to go abroad for six months. My friends and family all told me at the time that I would be very upset if I didn't do it, and thanks to them I was able to put my self-doubt aside and pluck up the courage to go to Toronto for a few months.
I was very warmly welcomed at GIST, thanks to the small school community and the friendly atmosphere in general. It was great that kindergarten, primary school and secondary school were all housed together and that I was able to take advantage of these diverse intercultural experiences. I am very grateful to GIST, which also somehow gave the starting signal for my career as a teacher. And when I took over my first class after graduating, I really realised that I was slowly growing up and could take on responsibility.
