When you grow up, who do you want to be?

Do you remember who you dreamed of becoming when you were a child? It’s a question you’ve likely been asked countless times. And now, as parents, educators, or mentors, you might find yourself asking the same of the children in your life: Who do you want to become when you grow up?

For our 25th year anniversary we chose the theme “Growing Up” to guide our celebration. During this special year in our history we will reflect on who we are as a school, where we have come from and where we aspire to go.

On this page you will find an overview of our events and stories about “Growing Up” for our 25 year anniversary. We want to invite each and everyone of you to join virtually and in person and ask yourselves once again: When you grow up, who do you want to be?

GIST 25 Year Fest

25 Burnhamthorpe Rd, Etobicoke
May 31, 12 - 6 PM

The German International School Toronto is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a big schoolfest, and we invite you to mark this special occasion with us.

Our school building will be filled with performances, exhibitions, and activities centred around the theme of growing up. There will be fun activities for children, opportunities to explore student projects, and space to connect with our community. Traditional German food and drinks will be available for everyone to enjoy.

This event is open to families, friends, and neighbours, and we look forward to welcoming you to celebrate 25 years of learning and growth together.

Stories of
Growing Up

Children dressed as animals and characters participating in a school play or costume event outdoors.
Children and teachers celebrating the first day of school in a classroom, with a chalkboard, balloons, and a sign in German that reads "Mein erster Schultag" (My first day of school).

Throughout the year, our anniversary blog will feature reflections from students, alumni, former staff members, and our community partners. Through these narratives, we trace our school’s journey the experiences that have shaped it and look toward the future.
